About Us

This project was started in the fall of 2010, as a part of Aaron French's St. Mary's Project. A senior religious studies major, Aaron chose to help empower local faith communities and other service organizations in starting a community garden in southern St. Mary's County Maryland.

This project is a collective process engaging citizens from across all the south county area in relatively small scale, sustainable community agriculture that benefits those in need. Several churches, community organizations and individuals have come together to plan, plant, maintain and harvest locally grown vegetables for church food pantries and local homeless meal programs.

We believe that by engaging in meaningful agricultural work with all members of our community, we can create a project that: builds community, teaches and provides for the various food needs of those in need in the south county area.
